Shahid Law Firm has become the first major Egyptian law firm to expand into the East African market through the signing of an affiliation agreement with the leading and much respected Ethiopian counterpart, Meseret and Associates Law Office. The affiliation reflects Shahid Law Firm’s commitment to the African continent and its responsibility to serve the interests of its Egyptian and international clients doing business in Africa. While Ethiopia is the natural first choice for Shahid Law’s international expansion – given the historical connections and longstanding mutual economic interests between East Africa’s most populous States – Shahid Law Firm foresees further expansions throughout East Africa and the Great Lakes region in the near future.
Shahid Law Firm’s expansion reflects the perception among economists and investors that Africa is a land of economic opportunities, and comes at a time where Egypt is looking to position itself as the hub for investors looking to do business in the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) region in light of growing intra-African trade.
Shahid Law Firm’s newly established Africa Group will be jointly headed by Girgis Abd El-Shahid and Tarek Badawy.
