Shahid Law secures the acquittal of the NGO personnel in the Foreign Funding Case

In the case commonly known as the foreign funding case, Shahid Law secured the acquittal of the personnel who worked in the US NGOs that operated in Egypt, namely, the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Freedom House, and International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), by overturning a June 2013 sentence convicting them of operating unlicensed NGOs and receiving foreign funding with the intention of harming national security.

The defence team who represented the defendants from the international NGOs was headed by the firm’s chairman and founding partner Counselor Sarwat Abd El-Shahid, and consisted mainly of senior partner, Mr Mahmoud El-Ganzouri, and associate Mr Khaled El-Sharkawy.

Shahid Law seizes this opportunity to congratulate the defendants, who had to endure the pressure of this politically sensitive case throughout these years, for their acquittal.
