Karim Hanafy is a Senior Associate at Shahid Law Firm and has been integral to the Litigation and Dispute Resolution teams since December 2015. He represents clients across a diverse range of disputes, notably in intellectual property, commercial matters, civil and administrative contracts, licensing, and pharmaceuticals. His involvement spans all stages of court disputes, from filing legal claims to drafting defence memorandums and attending court hearings for oral pleadings.
Karim also plays a crucial role in the enforcement of court judgments and arbitral awards, which includes obtaining exequaturs, drafting and delivering court notices, and executing precautionary attachments and executive seizures. His extensive engagement in these enforcement procedures has allowed him to cultivate valuable relationships with key court personnel, including bailiffs, enforcement judges, and law enforcement officials.
In addition to his courtroom expertise, Karim is skilled in legal research and drafting various legal documents such as court memorandums, legal requests, opinions, and notices. He also reviews commercial contracts, ensuring that clients’ interests are effectively protected throughout the legal process.
- Represented two major regional media companies in a multi-million-dollar multi-party dispute involving litigation and arbitration under UAE law concerning breaches of a number of licensing and broadcasting agreements, He also represented them during enforcement procedures (CRCICA Case No. 1012/2014).
- Acted for different pharmaceutical companies and international manufacturers in various wrongful termination claim before Egyptian Labor Courts.
- Acted for a major regional media company in a multi-million-dollar bankruptcy claim against a key media company in the Egyptian broadcasting market.
- Representing a major Korean industrial and construction company in the context of enforcement of a multi-million-dollar ICC arbitration award against a port development company. He is also representing the company in the claim for nullification of the award.
- Conducted a number of administrative investigations for administration and staff for a number of industries corporations.
